Hello I am Tracy Sparks, a professional photographer based in Manhattan, New York.

Why do I love photography? Because I find most people are like me; they hate stepping in front of a camera? But trust me when I say there are SO Many reasons to do it...

I was blindsided by the death of my 81 yo father. At his memorial we only had 2 photos of him. One was taken in the 80's and a more recent one from a family wedding that my daughter candidly snapped and had to edit for the memorial service. He, like me hated to pose or be in front of a camera lens.

It wasn't until I tackled my second bout of breast cancer and my daughter, who is a wildly successful wedding photographer, decided she wanted photos of me that I realized how healing and empowering photography can be. She captured me on a day I felt very depressed and lost. My bald chemo head was just starting to sprout some hair and I didn't feel like me.
BUT she put on our favorite classic rock music, poured us some wine and we started singing and laughing while she snapped a few images. The next day when she showed me the photos I cried. She caught the very soul of who I am. I decided that day I would provide this for other people with my camera.
